Hicks, Wilfred Richard

Passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie in his 99th year. Predeceased by his wife Eleanor (2000) and granddaughter Janice (Barry) Neal (2001) and 2 brothers Francis and Harold. Survived by son Richard of St. Catharines; daughter Betty and son in law Bill Neal of Fort Erie; Grandsons Barry (Diane) Neal, Burlington, Robert (Hera) Neal, Thomas (Lisa) Neal of Fort Erie, great grandsons Michael Neal of Burlington, Mitchell, Daniel and Matthew Neal and great granddaughter Seneka Neal all of Fort Erie. Wilfred was born in Dunnville, graduated high school and went to Buffalo to work in 1929 at Dunlop Tire, returned to Dunnville, married and worked at the Dominion Fabrics…later he and Eleanor moved to Hamilton, and then to Woodstock where he worked for the Oxford Cattle Breeders. In 1982 they moved to Fort Erie to be close to family….Wilfred’s passions in life where his family, golfing and woodworking. He has been a member of the Fort Erie Golf Club since 1982 and was made a lifetime member by Larry Gibson recently…he rarely missed a day at the golf course in the summer and walking at the Leisure Plex in the winter…He was the proud recipient of four Hole in One Trophies at the Fort Erie Golf Club.

Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave. Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Services will be conducted in the Benner Funeral Chapel on Wednesday at 1:30. Interment to follow in Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery. If so desired, donations to the Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre, the Breast Cancer Support Services (B.C.S.S.) in Burlington or the Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
